Ironic- eh?
Legally, he is allowd to do this
... because of a loophole in the New York State Law

Spooky Story

This morning while I was in the few, mandatorily silent, seconds in between The Shema and The Shemonah Esrei (part of my morning prayers) a kinda creepy thing happened...

A book flew, like a Frisbee off of my bookshelf and onto the floor, and landed face-up in front of my left foot.

... this in itself is only minorly odd.

The really odd part is that the night before last I had a dream that told me that I was to read this exact same book!

So, I am pretty sure that I am SUPPOSED to READ the BOOK... and probably ASAP!

You think?

WAKE THE F*!K UP

The next president of the United States doesn't need to be considered cool.

The perfect candidate isn't someone who could be our best friend.

The perfect candidate isn't someone who just wants to change the country for the better.

The perfect candidate is someone who has amble amounts of political experiance
The perfect candidate has ability to forsee the possible effects of their decisions.
No one should vote for someone because a television personality told them to.

What's Going on with Amazon?

Ok... so the other AMAZON (not the one that publishs me) seems to be very undiscovered. Look at this article that came out in the London Telegraph today!

____________________________________________________

Uncontacted Amazonian tribe photographed

Members of one of the few remaining indigenous tribes still isolated from the modern world brandished weapons as a helicopter flew over their village in the Amazon.

These remarkable pictures of Envira Indians were taken by Brazilian government officials during several flights over a remote part of Brazil's Acre state.

Painted a bright orange, two members of the tribe emerged from their huts to threaten the helicopter as it flew low over their small village.

Others could be seen in the background, apparently startled by the presence of the noisy machine in their skies.

"We did the over-flight to show their houses, to show they are there, to show they exist,' said Jose Carlos dos Reis Meirelles, an expert on "uncontacted" tribes, who works for the Brazilian government's Indian affairs department.

"This is very important because there are some who doubt their existence."

Mr Meirelles said the tribe lived in six small communities, each with about six communal houses, in an area known as the Terra Indigena Kampa e Isolados do Envira, close to the Peru border.

In spite of the threat of the encroaching world, the number of Envira Indians is thought to be increasing, Mr Meirelles said.

But other "uncontacted" groups on the Peruvian side of the border, who have also been photographed by experts, were being pushed from their homes by illegal logging.

This could lead to conflict between the displaced tribes and an estimated 500 Indians already living on the Brazilian side, he said. Indians were also susceptible to contracting diseases from outsiders.

"What is happening in this region (of Peru) is a monumental crime against the natural world, the tribes, the fauna and is further testimony to the complete irrationality with which we, the civilised ones, treat the world," Mr Meirelles said.

Survival International, a group London-based group which defends the rights of tribal people, estimates there are more than 100 remaining isolated indigenous tribes worldwide, with more than half in either Peru or Brazil.

"These pictures are further evidence that uncontacted tribes really do exist," said Stephen Corry, director of Survival International.

"The world needs to wake up to this, and ensure that their territory is protected in accordance with international law. Otherwise, they will soon be made extinct."

GAME TIME... Where is AMBER?

hehe... so, the other night, I went to the First Annual GO KOSHER Dinner.

And, today I got some photos from it and I thought it was funny when that I was in the background of another event photo... why this cracks me up I don't know. Maybe because when you are not expecting to see yourself, it is surprising to find out that someone was taking a photo and you didn't even know. You know?

Here is what their website had to say about
GO KOSHER...
Adapted from The Rebbe's Army (Schocken)
By Sue Fishkoff

Rabbi Sholtiel Lebovic is director of the nonprofit company Go Kosher, which he runs out of his Crown Height office. He grew up in New Jersey, where as a boy he helped his father kosher Jewish homes. Now he runs a home-koshering operation that whips through hundreds of Jewish homes a year in the Greater New York and wider tri-state area. Some of Lebovic’s clients are observant Jews who have moved to a new home and need help making it kosher, but he estimates that 70 percent are non-observant people looking to make that first step toward creating a Jewish home. “There are a host of reasons,” he says. “They could be the parents of children who went to Israel, and they want the grandchildren to be comfortable in their homes. They could be becoming observant themselves, or maybe they’re not shomer Shabbat [Sabbath-observant] but they want to keep kosher.”

Lebovic and his crew can usually kosher a home in one session, including taking all the utensils for ritual dunking in a mikvah, blowtorching the oven, cleaning out the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets, and advising the client on what has to be thrown away. “It’s not rocket science,” he says. “Lots of rabbis do this. But we have the system down. I try to make it as easy as possible. Once someone has committed to eating kosher, it’s just a matter of keeping separate parts of the kitchen for milk and meat, and buying kosher food. If they backslide, that’s fine. They can call me and I’ll walk them through it again.”

Many clients, koshering their homes for the first time, get emotional. "It is a big thing for these people. It means identity, it means feeling attached to Judaism.”
